Maudlin & Son and ABC's Extreme Makeover

In case you missed it ABC's Extreme Makeover Home Edition came to Kemah Texas. Maudlin and Son participated by manufacturing a nine foot tall Ferris Wheel for this episode and would like to share the experience with you.

Ferris Wheel in a week? No Problem!

When asked if we could manufacture a Ferris Wheel for this very, well deserving Bay area family; we all agreed it would be a very worthwhile opportunity. But what we didn't realize was how rewarding this would be for every one involved. Everyday we get to manufacture functional and important items for industry, but this was fun and meaningful. There weren't any prints or specs to follow. Instead our brightest employees were challenged to be as creative and inventive as necessary, to pull this off. We started on a Thursday evening and by Friday afternoon the laser machine began cutting components. On Saturday parts were being assembled and buckets were being formed and welded. Then Sunday at noon , the Ferris wheel had taken full shape. The wheel was delivered on Monday afternoon and by Tuesday was at the powder coaters. On Thursday the Ferris wheel was finally placed in the home and attached to the wall, with hours to spare before the final reveal. The finished product is truly magnificent.
